Man Arrested for Defrauding StarTech of ₹1 Crore; Lucknow Cyber Police Cracks the Case

Lucknow: In a major breakthrough, the Lucknow Cyber Crime Police have arrested Rahul Jonwal from Ajmer, Rajasthan, for allegedly defrauding StarTech, a vendor company associated with Flipkart, of products worth ₹1 crore.

According to police reports, the accused was employed with the company under a work-from-home arrangement, which he exploited to carry out the fraud. Jonwal is accused of manipulating internal systems and processes to siphon off products without proper transactions or documentation.

The fraud came to light when StarTech officials noticed discrepancies in their inventory and financial records, prompting them to file a complaint with the cyber police. Investigations revealed that Jonwal had used sophisticated methods to cover his tracks, making it challenging to detect the fraud initially.

“We tracked digital footprints, analyzed transaction logs, and identified communication patterns that led us to the accused in Ajmer,” said a senior cyber crime officer.

Jonwal has been brought to Lucknow for further interrogation, and the police are investigating whether he had any accomplices or if similar frauds were committed elsewhere. This case highlights the rising threats in the work-from-home ecosystem, emphasizing the need for stronger cybersecurity protocols within organizations.

Further legal proceedings are underway, and the authorities are working to recover the defrauded assets.
